Hello! Here’s the Little House sketches I was telling you about earlier!
I jumped on the computer the other day to work out an idea and started with this little grouping. I accidently cut the top off of the green house, but like I said, these are “sketches”.
I scattered them.
I lined them up in little rows.
I erased some of the rows to show a more wavy/zig zag look.
I scattered them again, like a ditsy print.
And then I imagined them as a scarf. I know some of the lines/spacing is off, but you get the idea. I think it might need another little house in the middle, too.
My plan is to carve out these 4 basic house shapes, stamp them on white paper and scan it into my computer and then color and arrange them digitally. Then load up to Spoonflower. I love how easy it is to arrange on screen, but want to maintain a handmade quality.
What do you think? Do you like any of the prints? Do you think any have possibility? Which one is your favorite?
Tomorrow I’m going to show you some Etsy Treasury’s I’ve been making. It’s been fun -they are their own little creative exercise!

I love the neat rows! Nice work! :)
Thank you! And thanks for your input!
These are so cute! I can’t wait to see the finished fabric.
Thank you!!
I’m behind on blog-reading, but I love this design! I agree with Angie, the straight rows are my favorite. it might be fun to try a “brick repeat” (a term I learned from the fabric design book I reviewed yesterday), where the rows are offset a little so that blue house, which is a point of high contrast, can be in different places from row to row.
So excited to see you playing with fabric design!
Thanks for your opinion, Diane! Great thoughts! I saw that book review…looks really great! 2 or 3 new fabric designing books have come out lately…hard to choose.
