I admit it - I am straight up obsessed with wood veneer these last couple weeks. Obsessed.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away I saw the wooden bows above and never forgot them.
A couple years after that and I saw this bamboo lamp. Now, I know it’s not veneer, but the aesthetic is similar to the bows and I think (am hoping!) it could also be made from veneer.
And earlier this year, Justina over at Compai posted this photo of a vintage bentwood plant hanger she’d found. I love this thing so much!
Fast forward to this Christmas and seeing Suzonne Stirling use BARC paper in her Family Christmas Modern Christmas spread. WHAHHHTT? Cut-able paper-like wood? Like, with scissors??!!
I ordered some immediately.
Two days later I came home and started making a Wood Veneer board on Pinterest.
And I found these lamps and mobile. !!!!!!!!!!!! It’s hard for me to adequately describe how much I am in love with these things.
Crimean Pinecone
Raindrop-S (The Raindrop Lookbook is a totally feast for the eyes!)
Mora Hanging Mobile.
I know this whole post is one hyperbolic love fest to wood veneer, but I can’t help it. I am so excited to experiment with this material in 2013!
Natural and modern. Organic and clean lined….
What do you think? Do you like wood veneer? Or are there any materials you are really excited to play with in 2013 that you haven’t tried before? Tell me in the comments - I’d love to hear what you want to try!!

And the hanging plant shelf – swoon!
I am what you can call a veneer lover. Recently, I have asked my interior designer to embellish my rooms with furniture items made of wood and veneer. Believe me, I couldn’t even trust my eyes after seeing the finished work.
Great post Elizabeth, I love wood veneer!
Thanks for eye opener :-)
