Bright Things: Macrame Sampler

29 March, 2012

in Bright Things

Hello, again! Where all your friendship bracelets were born….

This macrame sampler is from 1749!!

Raise your hand if you want to make a macrame sampler now. Yep, me too!

Wouldn’t this look just stellar hanging on your wall?

I want to know more! I didn’t even know there was such a thing as macrame samplers, but it makes sense.

Have you ever seen one somewhere else? Can you tell me more?

This one is in storage at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Thanks for looking at bits of macrame with me this week!

Yes! Yes! Yes! my wall wants this sampler really bad. Or one like it! I am sure we could make out own – all we need is someone to teach us all those patterns and knots!

I have never seen anything like this – even in the good days of macrame hysteria – the 70′s right? But wouldn’t it be lovely to actually find one and maybe even score it! I promise if i do, we will share – half a year each!

I would adore scoring one of these! I have a feeling it’s pretty rare. ;)
